Smart grids
Cargill is a carving knife that is having problems with its electricity. The bulls are at an all time high now at 2 million a day. The company needs to get this number down and they believe that will come from a smart grid. This is a system that distributes energy to home and businesses around the country. IF this is done the correct way bills will be cut down and it will give users more of a say in what energy they want to use. A company called Electric Power research institute is producing a smart grid but is said to cost 165 billion or 8 billion a year for 20 years. This seems like a pretty big investment of money for something that hasn’t really been used to much. Having a product like the smart grid will give customers a choice when they are purchasing power and having a something like this will get more people wanting to purchase the product. California utilities are leading the way for smart grids so far. In Northwest Arkansas this past winter Cargill ran its generators for six days straight to keep producing turkey meat when others didn’t have any power. Having something like the smart grid has been beneficial for companies like Cargill and electric power research. Smart grids can change electricity in the future.
